Trial and Error Robotics had the fantastic opportunity to do professional outreach with a local industry leader recently. Unified Brands is a leader in commercial kitchen equipment. They proudly support a massive line of professional food service products and provide intelligent solutions for all commercial kitchens with their premium branded product line. Unified Brands allowed our team to do a presentation and tour their facilities.

Before our tour, the team gave a small group presentation about what we do as a team and what FIRST Tech Challenge is all about. We also brought last year’s competition bot, Betsy, with us and did a short demonstration of what our bot could do. Everyone there was very interested in the robot and our program and asked the team many good questions.

After the presentation, two Unified Brands manufacturing engineers, Mr. Raines and Mr. Chris, gave our team a building tour. The engineers showed us some of Unified’s manufacturing robots, like their bots built to grind and polish kitchen equipment for final assembly. They had a welding bot, too! Then, we got to see their colossal fiber laser. Their CNC programmer quickly designed a sign with our team name on it and let us watch them cut it out of stainless steel. It was very excellent to see it firsthand.

The custom stainless steel sign was a fantastic gift from Unified Brands to our team and really got our gears turning. We are thankful for the incredible opportunity to see how they use robotics in their manufacturing process and for our team to connect with the company. Our team is looking forward to many other opportunities to visit them as they continue to grow and innovate.
