Learning the Ropes of SolidWorks

Teammates Shayne and Shane helping the students.

The classroom was full of excitement and curiosity as Trial & Error Robotics hosted an introductory class on SolidWorks, a professional 3D modeling program. The class was taught by our team coach, Mr. Cody, is a Certified SolidWorks Professional. Our mission was to provide students with the basic knowledge of SolidWorks so they could then use these skills to design their own custom parts.

After a short presentation, the class was eager to get started. They learned the basics of how to look up commonly used parts and how to work with them in the program. Students then learned to make a lever from a sketch in SolidWorks. Once they got the hang of it, they took their drawing and made it into a 3D model. The class even got the chance to make a keychain and customize it with their name.

In the end, everyone had a fantastic time and learned some new skills. We would like to thank everyone who came out and attended the class. If you or your team are interested in learning SolidWorks, email us or contact us at 601.618.4750. Stay tuned for more Trial & Error articles and posts.
