What makes Trial and Error Robotics awesome you may ask?? As our team goes through all of the “trials” we experience in building and coding our robot throughout the competition season, we not only grow as a team but also as individuals. We all learn valuable skills that we will use in our future careers in STEAM. Whether you like coding, building, or writing, we have amazing mentors to help you grow those skills into a lifelong career.

If you are interested in 3D printing or want to build things using tools, maybe you should become a builder. In the sub-team of the builders, our teammates learn how to 3D model and print the objects they model. The 3D modeling program the builders use is SolidWorks, and it is how they model some of the parts of our robot. Many professional builders and modelers use this software in their STEAM careers. The builders also have access to a whole workshop of tools like 3D printers, a mill, and a laser, to name a few.
If building is not your thing and you enjoy coding, working with computers, or gaming, you should try being a programmer. The programmers’ sub-team is where the students learn how to code and teach our robots. Programmers work closely with the builders to design and train the robots’ many sensors and cameras. The code they use on the robot is JAVA, a very useful coding program. Fun fact: Did you know that JAVA is part of the game Minecraft?
Last but not least, if you are interested in writing, making videos, business management, working with people, or graphic design, then try being a journalist. The journalist sub-team writes and posts articles like the one you are reading now. As they write some of our articles, we sometimes interview some famous or notable people. But they don’t do just that. They also do other fun stuff like community events where we go out into the community to show off our bots. The journalists also work on making fun ways to fund our team and create awesome videos.
All of these sub-teams and what they do make our team Awesome. What if none of these groups fit you all that well? Well, no matter what you are interested in, there is a place on our team to grow that interest with help from our mentors. You may even discover skills you didn’t even know you had. If you are interested or know someone else who is interested, please email us at ftc10191@gmail.com or by phone at 601.618.4750. We hope to hear from you soon!!!
