At the end of June, our team hosted a public Intro to SolidWorks class. This class helped introduce the tools, tips, and tricks of CAD modeling in SolidWorks. Learning this program would benefit students who want to design and model our robot. We learn this through Titans of CNC, a free online course that can teach anyone who wants to learn how to do 3D modeling in SolidWorks.
At the end of the class, our coach, Mr. Cody, proposed a friendly competition. The student who completed the contest first would win a 3D printer by earning eight certificates from Titans of CNC. To earn these certificates, you must complete the 3D model for each lesson and get it evaluated by Titans of CNC. Each lesson gets more complicated as you go.
To everyone’s surprise, Quincy, one of the builders on Trial and Error, was announced the winner of this competition. He earned not eight certificates but ten! Although he has achieved this goal, he continues to earn more certificates, and so does so. He learns more and more about how to model and create his own designs in SolidWorks. As of the publication of this article, Quincy is at twelve. Quincy is proud of himself for this achievement, as he says in his quote:
“I didn’t expect to achieve this goal, but it felt good to accomplish something and then get something amazing out of it. I do hope to achieve more goals like this in the future.” – Quincy.
Congratulations, Quincy, on your amazing achievement.
