Adventures in Robotics: Lessons from Gulfport Qualifier

Ahoy, fellow inventors, engineers, and lovers of calculated chaos! General Mayhem here, bringing you a long-overdue update from the Gulfport Qualifier on December 14th, 2024. Now, I know, I know… you’re probably wondering why it took so long to share this epic saga. Well, you see, the delay was a result of a rather “unexpected” situation involving a misbehaving robot arm, an overabundance of duct tape, and an unfortunate encounter with my mustache in a highly experimental soldering session. But fret not! The dust has settled, the soldering iron has been properly retired, and now, at long last, I present the news you’ve all been waiting for!

Team Trial & Error packed up our creativity and grit and headed down to the Gulfport Qualifier, ready to test our mettle. The competition was fierce, and we hit a few bumps in the road (penalties here, missteps there). But as we all know, what is Trial & Error Robotics without a little trial and error?

While we didn’t secure the coveted Golden Ticket to the State competition, we were far from empty-handed. Thanks to our clever and reliable design, we earned the Innovate Award! A victory that stands as a true testament to our team’s innovation and problem-solving prowess.

Team Trial & Error faced challenges at the Gulfport Qualifier but won the Innovate Award for their clever design. With lessons learned, they’re gearing up for the next qualifier in Pearl! Looking ahead, we’re now fully prepared for the next qualifier in Pearl, just two months away. Armed with our award-winning creativity, a treasure trove of hard-learned lessons, and a deep well of determination, we’re more ready than ever to tackle whatever challenges come our way.

So, stay tuned, my friends! The road to State is still wide open, and Team Trial & Error is going to bring the mayhem—and the innovation—every step of the way!

Yours in gleaming gears and burnt mustaches,
General Mayhem
