Trial and Error Go to ERDC’s Science Unleashed

Hello all,
It’s General Mayhem here, reporting back from ERDC’s Science Unleashed—an exciting and inspiring event filled with curiosity, creativity, and plenty of robotics!

We had the pleasure of spending the day at the ERDC Headquarters, where students from all over came to explore the wonders of science and technology. Our team brought along several of our robotic creations, and the students had a great time interacting with them. From knocking things over to Tankbot rolling right over obstacles, there was no shortage of fun demonstrations.

We talked about different drive trains, including mecanum and tank drive, and the students had tons of great questions for us. While we didn’t have all the answers perfectly lined up (a stumble or two is part of the fun), we did our best to share what we’ve learned and show how these systems work.

At one point, one of our 3D-printed parts took a bit of a hit and ended up breaking—but nothing we couldn’t handle! It actually turned into a fun moment and reminded us that trial and error is part of the engineering process.

We weren’t the only ones showcasing our work—plenty of other teams and displays were there too, making for a really well-rounded and exciting day.

All in all, Science Unleashed lived up to its name. We had a great time connecting with future scientists and engineers, and we’re already looking forward to the next opportunity to share our passion for robotics.
