Toolbox Raffle Wrap-Up: 320 Tickets, 2 Pies, and One Grateful Team

Over the last five weeks, Trial and Error Robotics has been hard at work—not just building robots, but rallying our community for our biggest fundraiser of the season: the Husky Toolbox Raffle.

We’re proud to report that thanks to the incredible effort of our team members and the generous support from our community, the raffle was a huge success.

Our students sold an impressive 320 tickets, raising a total of $2,760 to help keep our program cost-free and accessible to all students. This effort shattered both of our internal goals—200 tickets and $1,600 raised—and showed just how powerful teamwork, outreach, and a little friendly competition can be.

Throughout the fundraiser, team members participated in two major outreach events—the Spring Flea Market and Big Wheels—speaking with hundreds of community members. Even beyond those events, students took it upon themselves to hang posters around town, promote the raffle on social media, and talk to friends, neighbors, and local businesses. The dedication and initiative they showed were nothing short of inspiring.

Unbeknownst to the community, the team introduced a fun incentive: the top-selling student would earn the chance to hit a mentor of their choice with a pie. The lighthearted challenge quickly became a major motivator—after all, who wouldn’t go the extra mile for a chance to pie their coach?

In an unexpected twist, two team members tied for first place. Both Cait and Violet sold an impressive 50 tickets each, securing their place as the team’s Raffle Rockstars—and earning them both a chance to throw a pie.

Thanks to the good sportsmanship of our Coach and Ms. Lisa, each top seller got to deliver a pie to the face in celebration. The moment brought plenty of laughs and capped off the raffle effort with team spirit and fun.

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Home Depot for their amazing donation of the Husky toolbox. Their continued support of our team and the greater STEM community makes a lasting impact. Their generosity not only gave us a fantastic grand prize, but also helped us raise awareness and funds that directly support hands-on STEM education for local students.

Last but not least, drumroll please…

Congratulations to Norberto Nadal, the lucky winner of the toolbox! We hope you enjoy it and think of us every time you open a drawer.
