Mega Meetings #1

20190126_094757

Today was our first Mega Meeting™ in preparation for state competition.

When we started out the day the Engineering Research and Development Center (ERDC) where our machine shop is located just so happened to be holding a Girl Scouts STEM day. We decided to pop in for a while and show the girls our program. We demonstrated gracious professionalism to the girls and showed them the many opportunities FIRST has to offer.

Once we finished our presentation with the scouts, it was time for lunch. Our pizza was graciously provided by the Little Caesars here in Vicksburg. So if you’re ever in the area and need a place to eat, please check them out, you will not be disappointed.

The build team has been hard at work designing and building a second iteration of “The Evan”, which is our mechanism that attaches our robot to the lander in the center of the field.

Our programmers have been testing and refining our computer vision algorithm so that it can work in any light conditions, since that was an issue at our last qualifier.

You might ask, “Mr. Team member that shall remain nameless, that wrote this article, what have YOU been doing?” Me? not only have I written two articles for this website. I have been managing the teams social media. (Shameless plug: /u/trialAndError10191 on Reddit, and @ftc10191 on Twitter. so follow us!)

In short, this has been a very productive meeting. We will continue to have these eight hour Mega Meetings™, until the state wide competitions on February the 23rd.
