SolidWorks is a CAD (Computer Assisted Drafting) program that allows users to create 3D models of robots and mechanical parts.
On July 20th, July 27th, and August 3rd, we hosted a SolidWorks workshop for the community and our own team members. We covered how to mate two objects and make 3D objects as well as 2D objects. We also covered how to make blueprints in the program. At the end of the class, each member was tasked with replicating a 3D object from a blueprint.
For this class, we also hosted another team in Mississippi, FTC #14539 Techno Turtles! We also hosted many people from the general public as well as a few adults wishing to expand their knowledge of CAD programs.
Our team coach works with SolidWorks professionally, so he had a great time teaching the class over the last few weeks. We had a blast hosting each attendee, and we can’t wait to have more workshops in the future!
